Leaves, leaves, leaves!

One thing that attracted us to our house is the many large trees in our yard.   We love the feeling it gives you when you look at the house and play in the yard.  When we bought the house in the spring of 2010, we had no idea what that would mean for us come fall!  We were shocked at the amount of time that we spent picking up leaves that first year.  We actually blamed it on the people before us; they must never have really gotten them all up, and surely we were picking up 2 years worth.  Then the next year there were just as many, and there were even more the year after that because we had the tree trimmed earlier in the spring of that year.

We have learned that we pretty much have to spend any spare weekend days that we have working at least a little bit on the leaves, and we also have to commit to several big pick up days through out the season.  So far we have filled more than 20 giant size bags, and we have also topped off our big city trash can every week with leaves.  I try to look at the positives... it gives us some good family workout time and the kids have lots of fun playing in all of those leaves!  But, wow we have a lot of leaves!
