Tonight we took Caleb trick or treating at Collins, one of the Baylor dorms. It was a lot of fun. Caleb dressed as a giraffe, and many of the girls said that he had the cutest costume of all. I agree! He actually kept his giraffe head on the entire time and really enjoyed taking pieces of candy from each bucket along the way and putting them into his own bucket. Moving items from container to container is completely his thing lately, so this was perfect. We came home with way too much candy especially since Caleb hasn't caught on what it is! Jon and I will have to enjoy it for him! Next year will be a completely different story!
Several of the Baylor runners tagged along with us and enjoyed seeing all of the little trick or treaters.

Pumpkin Patch Pics
We visited a local pumpkin patch with some friends tonight. With three 1 year olds, it was interesting to try to get good pictures. Here are a few that turned out okay...

Kelly's Belly Week 22
I am definitely enjoying the second trimester! No morning sickness and not too many of the aches and pains that come in the end. People are starting to notice that I am pregnant, which is fun. Caleb likes to point at my belly and say baby. Then he points at his own and says baby again. He has no idea how the word "baby" is going to change his life! We are excited to think about adding this little girl to our family in 18 weeks!

Caleb 19 months old
Caleb is now 19 months old, and he continues to be a great kid! His language skills have developed a good deal in the past month. One of his favorite new words is moon. He is constantly wanting to go outside to look for the moon whether it is daytime or nighttime. If the moon is out, he points at it and says "moon" over and over again. If the moon is not out, he points at the sky and says "no moon". While at my parent's house we were amazed at how many moons he found around the house in different pictures and books. He also was pointing at the letter C in the newspaper and saying moon. Caleb's other favorite word is "no". He mastered this word when we were around my parent's two dogs in ABQ. He would tell them over and over again "no, no, no dog". One of the dogs loved Caleb and wanted to constantly lick him and jump on him.... "no, no dog". Grammy bought Caleb a small plastic dog, who also hears "no, no dog" throughout the day. Some of Caleb's other new words include "dar" (star), "bob" (he tries to sing the Bob the Builder song), "go bears" (which he yelled at a football game recently), "baby" (pointing to my stomach and then to his own- a little confused on what baby means!), and airplane (which he is also constantly looking for in the sky).
Caleb had a few colds this past month, but he does much better with them than he did when he was younger. He still sleeps great at night, and likes to blow his own nose. We are working on using a handkerchief and not the hand towels in the bathroom!
Caleb seems to play well independently at church and Mother's Day Out. When I pick him up, he is often playing with a toy on the other side of the room while the other kids are all crying at the door. He will look up at me, smile, and keep playing. Somehow, he isn't that independent of a player at home. I am constantly getting pulled around the house!
Caleb is definitely becoming a boy and not a baby now. He is a joy in our lives, and we are excited to see how having a little sister changes him!

Yo! Check Me Out!
Now that it's not a billion degrees outside, usually when my Dad comes home we go outside to goof off. I usually play with chalk, look at the moon, or swing in the hammock till the mosquitoes get bad or the ants try to get us. Lately Dad has been letting me ride the skateboard with him. I think he likes to do it as much as I do though. He sometimes uses more chalk than me when we are drawing things. I don't see any other neighbors riding skateboards, bikes, juggling soccer balls, or drawing on the driveway with sidewalk chalk. They probably wish he would quit goofing off and mow the yard.

A Real Haircut
Caleb and I just got home from him getting his first "real" haircut- real meaning we had to pay for it :). He has so little hair that it is hard to tell in the pictures that he got it cut, but it looks nice on the sides and the back. After watching the stylist cut it, I thought I might be more confident in my own abilities to cut it. However, she convinced me that she is much better than I am at being fast and accurate!

Grandaddy Pace and Caleb
Grandma and Grandad Pace came to visit this week, and we had a great time. Together we went to the museum, shopping (Grandad sat out for this one), to the football game, and out to eat breakfast. They brought their motorhome and stayed at a nearby park on the lake. Last night we had a picnic in the park and then went walking by the lake. We were sitting along the edge throwing rocks in the water, and a duck came up to beg for some food. The duck was quite convincing, so Grammy walked back to the motorhome to get some bread for it. When she returned we all started feeding the duck little pieces of bread. We gave Caleb a piece to feed the duck, and he instantly put it in his mouth. This event occured time and again. I kept telling Caleb to throw the bread to the duck, and he kept stuffing it in his mouth as quickly as possible. Funny that earlier, he didn't want to eat the nice buttery dinner roll from Bush's Chicken, but at this moment he was loving little pieces of plain dry bread! I guess he didn't want to miss out on the duck's snack. Afterwards we walked back to the motorhome; Caleb's shoes were about an inch and a half taller because of the mud. Caleb loved playing in the motorhome. He lounged on the bed, messed with all of the buttons, and pretended to drive. It was a real treat for him to spent the week with Grandma and Grandad Pace! We all had a very nice time together!

Our Texan Eats Red Chile Enchiladas
I realize everyone may not like seeing pictures of messy toddlers eating, but this meal was significant as it was the first time Caleb had red chile. My parents brought some red chile for us to all share in enchiladas. Thinking that Caleb wouldn't be able to eat it, we made him his own cheese enchiladas. However, he kept pointing at Grammy's plate and refusing to eat his own enchiladas. So, we decided to let him try the real New Mexican chile out, and he loved it. He would dip his enchilada in the chile and then eat it up. Dipping seems to be a real motivator at this age when it comes to getting Caleb to eat his dinner. If he has something to dip food into, he is very excited about eating it! We are so proud that our Texan son likes red chile!
