Our Mancub

It seems that this is a inherited trait; however Caleb only does it outside so he doesn't scuff up his knees( we think). Guess there is more than one mancub out there. If you don't think babies are strong, crawl around like him for a minute or two. I did and I don't know how they do it, it's quite a workout. Caleb continues to love going outside and throws a temporary fit if the door opens- he makes a break for it- and doesn't make it. It can be cold, wet, he doesn't really care. The other night he went outside and found the stars and kept pointing at them. I was proud that he even noticed.

Park Weather

The weather in Texas is wonderful today, so we decided to take advantage of it by going with our friends, Emily and Gianna, to the park. Gianna is just a little bit older than Caleb, so Emily and I love getting to hang out and talk about them! They are at the age when they can actually play at the park. They swung, went down the slide, and crawledr around on the merry-go-round chasing each other. Caleb seemed to especially like all of the dirt that the park had to provide. He kicked it with his feet, picked some up with his hands, and only had to be told not to eat it one time!

11 Months of Fun

One month to go until our little boy is a year old! He is developing really quickly and showing more and more of his personality everyday. Just a few moments ago, I found him at the dishwasher licking the remains of apricot off of his dinner spoon. This boy loves to eat! Let me repeat that, Caleb loves to eat!!! He is eating most everything that Jon and I eat. He has decided he doesn't like baby food anymore and makes raspberries with it in his mouth, which causes it to fly out all over me, the table, and anything else nearby. Instead, Caleb wants whatever everyone else is eating. He kicks his legs in excitement and anticipation of all the new flavors and foods, and if he doesn't get it soon enough, he protests quite vocally :)! We are working on this!

Caleb loves to be outside. When he hears me telling Heidi that I am going to take her out, he starts squealing and crawling as fast as he can to the door. I leave it open, and he sprint crawls down the driveway with a look of joy and amazement. Along with these happy expressions of his personality, he also has starting showing his own will in other ways. He throws quite a little fit if I don't let him crawl down the driveway or if I take something away from him! Also several nights ago, Caleb brought me a book, and I read it to him and put it back into his book basket. He started crying, crawled to pick up the book, and took it to Jon. Jon read it to him, and he smiled and laughed the whole time. It was adorable! It seems like Caleb is doing something new every moment all day long!

We are so blessed by this baby! I can't believe how quickly the time is flying! It is challenging, but mostly incredibly fun and rewarding.

New Look

I decided that the month of February may be the only time my husband will let me have PINK on our blog. Otherwise it is much, much too girlie for the blog of a strong Capron boy. There sure are a lot of "strong Capron boys", so I am going to take advantage of one month of pink!

New Skills...

Caleb is learning new things everyday. Yesterday, we both learned something new. Caleb can climb/fall out of his high chair even though he is strapped in it. I figured this out when Caleb did a nose dive from his high chair to the floor. I am very thankful that he was in the dining room and landed on the laminate floor rather than in the kitchen, where he would have hit the tile. I had just put him in his high chair and was getting his food ready. He was fussing, and I guess he stood up, pulled his legs and body out of the straps, leaned over, and fell out the side. It must not have been too bad of a fall because although he cried, he was completely normal when he got to start eating dinner. By the way, he loves spaghetti! I tightened the straps on the high chair a lot, and I guess Caleb will hang out on the floor while I get his meals together. That just means more work for me trying to keep him out of trouble on the floor (dog food, the dishwasher, ect.)! No more stalling him with puffs or cheerios while I clean up either!

Here are two pictures of Caleb eating his spaghetti after the fall. As you can see, he felt just fine!

And here is the view that Caleb frequently sees when he is eating and Heidi is disobeying.
