The first several weeks of school, this redhead complained every single morning about having to go. I think that he enjoyed himself during the day, but he just didn't like having to be gone so much. By about the third week, I was much relieved to notice a quick decline in the morning whining, and now he gets ready and out the door without any problems.
Starting at a new school has been interesting. Any new environment always brings out some sort of awkward new moments. Being a typical mom, I am trying to make a great first impression of having it all together- that
we are such great parents and our kids are just going to be a
delight to have in the school. Jon, on the other hand, is trying to win the most eccentric and coolest dad award. He always likes to do things differently. This has been most evidenced in his method of taking Caleb to school. Jon jumps on his beach bike, throws a helmet on Caleb, and holds him piggy-back style while riding the bike to school. The first day when they rode this way (and other days I am sure), Jon described the loud skidding sound that the brakes made while the bike lurched to a stop right where all of the teachers were unloading the kids in the car ride. While I do suppose that Jon has succeeded in the most eccentric and perhaps in the coolest categories of parenting, somehow this was not the first impression that I envisioned!
Last of all is our little Lukey! He is 17 months old, into everything, loves eating, and is saying new things everyday. I love this age. I think that with my other two, this was around the time I starting wanting another baby because it is so fun to see babies turning into little people with likes and dislikes and personalities. I am not thinking of any more Caprons for us, but I am enjoying Luke at this age. Everyday when we pick Caleb up from school, we play on the playground to let the traffic clear out before walking home. Luke loves to sit on my lap and watch the buses pass by. He reaches out to them and says "uck" (truck). Then several days, ago he found a hotwheels bus in Caleb's toy bin and started carrying it around the house. He is in love with it and hasn't hardly set it down in 3 days. He finds it when he wakes up, takes a bath with it, and takes it in the car. He also absolutely adores our Wheels on the Bus book. Now he can say "bus" just perfectly. It has been such a cute little obsession!
Luke, like most kids his age, is also loving playing outside. He climbs up and down the slide over and over again. We are all enjoying our yard and the nice cooler weather!
Last I will leave you with another coolest-most eccentric dad ever story. Jon has been helping Caleb to do 3 sets of 5 pullups everyday on our playset. Caleb thinks it is pretty fun and was highly motivated to eat his asparagus last night so he can keep working on getting strong! You win the award Jon!
