Abby's First Day of PreK-4
Abby started her first day of PreK-4 last week. She was a happy girl! Her teacher is super sweet, and this year we know a good number of the kids who are in her class. We have enjoyed being home this summer, but I am also excited for the kids to return to their little spots. We are looking forward to a great year!

Swim Lessons 2013
The older two kids did swim lessons at the YMCA again this summer. You can see from the pictures that they weren't thrilled with the experience. Caleb was super apprehensive because we put him in a high level class hoping that he would rise to the occassion. He did eventually do well in the class, but I won't say that there weren't some tears involved! I was a nervous wreck for his sake because I knew he felt very uncomfortable. But, now he truly can swim well in any depth of water. I suppose that the class was a good thing for him because it stretched him to overcome his fears (which are still quite numerous!). Abby was in the lowest level class. After two weeks of class and lots of other swim time this summer, she is still anxious about putting her face in the water. Maybe it will all click next summer! I think that Daddy might be their swim teacher!
Albuquerque, NM July 2013
Albuquerque was an emotional stop for me this summer. For the first time ever, we wouldn't be staying in my parents' house. That was a sad thought that only brought to the forefront of my mind missing mom and dad a whole lot. But, I am so thankful for Katie and Michael and all of the sweet cousin time. Also we got to spend some time at Tammy's new house, which is lovely. The cousins had a wonderful time together swimming, riding bikes, and eating at all of our favorite spots!
Tres Piedras, NM July 2013
We rounded out our busy summer with a trip to New Mexico. Despite my daily efforts to find an affordable five airline tickets to Albuquerque, there is just no way that 5 times any fare ends up seeming worthwhile. Therefore, we made the road trip, which we have done many times. It just seemed extra daunting this year with Luke being in the middle of potty training, but actually it is turned out to be a fairly good trip. We were just happy to be headed to Albuquerque for a happy reason and not another funeral! While in New Mexico we spent several nights in Tres Piedras with Jon's mom and Terry. We all loved the cool weather and the scenery. Caleb and Jon enjoyed some nice hills for bike riding. I love that our kids are getting to make this mountain memories at least once or twice a year. It was a great visit with Grandma Peters and Grandpa Terry!
