It was a great year and I am glad you are with me every step of the way.
Can't wait to see what God has for us around the next corner.
I love you.

The Tractor!

The boys were super excited when Uncle Glen offered to give them a ride on his tractor, which just happened to be right after Aunt Candy's treasure hunt and Uncle Glen's popsicle treat. Those two sure know how to make 3 and 5 years olds quite happy! And aren't Aunt Candy's flower beds AMAZING! I always come home from WA inspired to be a good gardener. Then I walk outside, feel the heat, and lose all of my inspiration! Click on each picture to see the kid's smiling faces!

The Crew

3 Boys and 2 Girls
3 Redheads and 2 Blondies
1 Five year old, 2 Three year olds, and 2 One year olds
5 Little Caprons

Anyway you look at it, they are a cute high-maintenance group! These pictures capture what I will remember most about this trip to Washington: watching the kids play and discover new things together. Caleb was in awe of Andrew and Owen. He thought they were the best and clearly wanted to be a part of the group. He was a bit more cautious than them though. At McDonald's Andrew and Owen were running around in the play area having a blast, and Caleb sat back close to us. Finally we convinced him to join his cousins. He climbed in and all the way up to the top of a slide and then started screaming for Jon. Jon had the climb up the slide to rescue him. Meanwhile Abby was starting up the play area herself, fell down, and got a fat lip. While Andrew and Owen were climbing a huge rock in the shallow part of the bay (and Owen jumping up and down on it), Caleb stayed right near me and dug holes in the sand. However, Caleb did love running around with the boys, playing cars, having races, and just hanging out. It was a fairly laid back trip with lots of time at the house that we rented so the boys could run, play, and explore the beach. These kids require a lot of work from their moms and dads (on little sleep), but they are so precious to watch. Time seems to speed up when you only are together with family once or twice a year. Each child seems to have changed immensely between visits, and I can see clearly my own children's newest milestones. I took many snapshots in my mind trying to remember these sweet fleeting moments.

Just curious what others think....

Red

Caleb loves the color red. I think it is because he has heard lots of comments about his "red hair". In reality red is not a great color for a "redhead". On the other hand, red looks great on our Abby girl! Her hair is all blonde!

I'm trying to take more shots with me in the picture with the kids. Here's number 1.

Swimming Lessons

Posted by Picasa

Caleb took two weeks of swimming lessons this past month. He loved getting to swim. Considering how cautious he is about everything, Jon and I were surprised at how calm and comfortable he is in the water. He still is working on the concept of actually using his legs and arms to keep him afloat, but he seems to do well holding his breath. Now we are going to try to make swimming a part of the routine, so we can keep working on his new skills!

Caleb Lee

Caleb has a new (to us) bike and a new bike helmet. He loves his helmet but refuses to try the bike out. We put him on a bike at the store, and he started screaming and crying because the training wheels made it rock back and forth. So we didn't buy a bike there. However, Jon just happened upon one at a garage sale and brought it home. Caleb said he would just like to keep riding his tricycle. He is such a cautious child. (I don't see that to be the story for Abby though.) Silly Boy!

Abby at 16 months

Abby is 16 months old, and she has quite the personality. Her favorite thing to do is to be held and turn the light switches on and off. She just goes around from room to room pointing at the switches and saying “mmmm, mmmmm, mmmmumm”, which is what she says anytime she wants something. Abby seems to really love her brother. She will laugh hysterically in the backseat of the car as he tickles her. When allowed, she will play contentedly alongside him on the floor of his room. I love these moments. They have a long way to go when it comes to sharing, but it is sweet to see them entertaining each other a bit. Abby loves, loves, loves animals. She chases Heidi the dog and gives her hugs at bedtime. She loves to look at all of her books that have pictures of animals in them. We spend a good amount of time eating around this household, and Abby takes after the fam in that regard. She always seems to be hungry. She is a good eater and will try most things (she didn't go for the tuna fish Jon gave her yesterday). Abby is quite the little girl. She loves to put on lotion, push her stroller around, and go through her shoes in the closet. She is at the stage where she is mimicking a lot of what we do, which is so cute. As I’ve written before, Abby is either really happy or really mad. She knows how to throw a good fit, but she also loves to cuddle with us. We are proud of our big girl.
