Baby Shower for Little Girl

Today I enjoyed a wonderful baby shower for our little girl. When I had my main baby shower for Caleb I was no longer pregnant, so Iwas excited me to still have a baby in my belly at this shower. Last time, I had only been out of the hospital for 5 days, and I didn't fit in any of my clothes! It was still fun, but I much prefer the pre-baby baby shower! However, I do have to say that I am growing out of most of my maternity clothes! I find myself in a certain pair of green Baylor track sweatpants quite often!
Here I am opening gifts at the shower.

I am posting this picture with the risk of Jon being unhappy with me. We have not officially decided on Abigail as the name for our little girl, but her name is up on the wall in her room in two places. This is an adorable bow holder that the hostesses at my shower gave us. It matches the room great and has a variety of colorful bows for "Abby". Jon is not trying to keep the name a secret. He just wants to see her before it is official... so this isn't official or anything :). Hopefully she will have hair at some point in time, so we can use these cute bows. Love, love this gift... thanks girls. We got lots of other fun girl things too! We are blessesd with a great group of friends here in Waco!

Here I am with three of the hostesses from the shower. From left to right: Jennifer, me, Brooke, and Emily (Sarah also hosted the shower, but was busy with her own little girl when we took the picture.)
This is me and Emily, Gianna's mom. Her due date is TODAY! I am glad Baby Selah decided to let her mom come to the shower, but I think Emily would love to be at the hospital having a baby instead! I know I would feel that way if I was her!

One and a half weeks and this baby is considered full term (at 37 weeks). I am excited and trying to avoid too much nesting. I have been taking it easy trying to keep this child in me a little while longer. In a few weeks, I will nest as much as I like hoping it gets things going! Thanks friends for a fun shower!

Kelly's Belly Week 35 and What I learned from my Dog

Yeah! I will be 35 weeks along tomorrow! I am aiming for at least 2 more weeks. I go to the doctor again tomorrow, and I am anxious to hear the report on if anything has changed from last week. We are very thankful that this little girl is staying put for now! Now enjoy a video of the new things Caleb has been learning. He needs a new mentor.

Heidi teaches Caleb all she knows. We found them both doing this at the door tonight.

Baby Girl

Well assuming that I don't have a baby within the next hour, our little girl has made it longer in her safe warm free home (me) than Caleb did. This is a celebrated blessing as we know each day will make her lungs stronger and more healthy for life outside of me! Caleb is completely healthy now, but he did have a rough start. At my doctor's visit last week, I found out that I am already progressing along in the whole having a baby process (to be a bit vague for the readers out there who don't want all of the details!). So considering that information and Caleb's "false start", I am thankful that I am at home having a normal day and not at the hospital have a preemie. Please join us in praying that our little girl will stay put for a little while longer! She will be considered full term in about 2 1/2 weeks, when I am 37 weeks along. I am getting very excited to meet her, and we know that the next month will go by very quickly!

Caleb 22 months old

Only two months to go, and my "baby" will be 2 years old. I have been trying to call him a little boy now and not a baby, since in about a month, we will have a true baby. Caleb has had a great month. We had lots of family come to visit this month, which he enjoyed a great deal. While my mom was here, Caleb went to the bathroom in his new potty several times. We were so proud and made quite a big deal out of it. However lately when I ask him if he needs to go, he shakes his head yes, I take off all of his clothes (often times his footy pjs), he sits down for about 5 seconds, makes a "psss" sound with his mouth, stands up, closes the lid, and then stands on the toilet completely naked. Then I have to chase him down to get his clothes back on! I don't imagine he will be potty trained anytime soon! Caleb has started speaking in sentences this past month. He will say, "I pooped." and one of his favorite things to say is "I jumped." He thinks that he is jumping anytime he steps down from a higher surface to the floor one foot at a time. He is quite proud of himself for his "jumping". Of course Caleb continues to love playing basketball and football, and he always pulls my hand and asks me to "watch". Caleb has started saying "pease" (please) and "thank you". He is a little hard to resist when he says "coo coo pease" (cookie please), so he often gets to snack on animal cookies. As far as I can tell Caleb likes to have everything neat and tidy. We have seen him taking out coasters to put his sippy cups on. I took the picture below of the way Caleb set up all of his little plastic animals. They were all facing the same way and put into groups based on color and type. It will be interesting to see if this trait continues and in what way as he gets older!Caleb looks more and more like a little boy and not a baby each day. We are enjoying our little toddler and are excited about him becoming a big brother soon!

Comparison of Bellys

Kelly's Belly 32 weeks in 2009 with Baby Girl vs. Kelly's Belly 32 weeks in 2007 with Baby Caleb.... Is it the angle of the shot or do I look much bigger this time?

Kelly's Belly Week 32

Here I am at 32 weeks. All has been going well- no more hospital scares. I am starting to have a small amount of swelling in my ankles, but it is nothing like how swollen I was at this point with Caleb. Also it seems to go away when I put my feet up, which definitely didn't happen last time. I have been feeling fairly well, but I am looking forward to having a baby to hold in my arms rather than in my belly. The kicks are definitely getting stronger! Not that we are ready for a baby yet; we are still praying for a normal full term baby!
Here I am with my boy!

Here is a picture of some of my church friends at my friend Emily's baby shower. She is about a month ahead of me, so she is getting very close to being ready to have her baby. We enjoyed her shower yesterday where we had ice cream sundaes with lots of yummy toppings, cookies, and brownies- a dream come true for this pregnant girl!

A Quick Trip to Labor and Delivery

Everything is fine- no new babies in this family yet! However, Jon and I did make a quick trip up to labor and delivery because I had some bleeding, which is a scary thing anytime during a pregnancy especially in the third trimester. I put on a lovely hospital gown, and laid there with a heart rate monitor on for the baby and a contraction monitor on for myself. Everything checked out as normal. The heart rate sounds good, and I was not having any contractions. After a quick check from the doctor, the report is that the baby is not on the way! What a relief and a good feeling to be in and out of the hospital within two hours. Also, I now have an excuse to "take it easy". Jon is convinced that I spent too much time yesterday cleaning house, so I will comply with his wishes and let him do it! Luckily, I will have Jon home this week followed by week long visits from my mom and Jon's dad and Rhonda. I am going to be a wreck when all of my help leaves me, and I have to take care of Caleb all alone again- 34 weeks pregnant at that point! For now I willjust enjoy the next three weeks! We are so thankful that we are not about to have a baby in the NICU today. Stay put little girl!

Our Christmas Eve Activities

Caleb's new favorite activity to practice walking up and down the steps in front of our house. He can climb them without using his hands and is quite proud of himself. Of course he wants me to tell him how proud I am of him as he moves from step to step.

Heidi and Caleb ready for the family hike

Do you think he has outgrown the backpack? Daddy thought so by the end of the walk after carrying Caleb for 3-4 miles!
Jon made a few leave piles for Caleb to play in.

Luminarias

As per Jon's mom's tradition, we have put out our luminarias tonight. Caleb and Jon had a delightful time filling and preparing the bags. Moving sand from one bag to another is totally something toddlers are in to, so this was a perfect Christmas activity for Caleb.

What a gift!

Caleb proudly walked into the kitchen with a gift tag stuck on his shirt last night. To Kelly From the Sieverts... thanks Katie and Jason what a good gift! Caleb gets a sticker on his back everytime he goes to church to help the workers identify him. Now he wants all types of stickers to go on his shirt. The other day, he put a size label sticker on his back, and right now he has a clementines sticker on his shirt that says "Cutie".

Kelly's Belly Week 30 and Caleb's New Room

This little girl has caused me extreme sweet cravings! Usually I am more one for salty snacks- not that I haven't been craving those too. But, throughout this pregnancy sugary sweet things have sounded so good. Cupcakes are at the top of the list for some reason. So with my cravings and in the Christmas spirit, Jon and I made cut out sugar cookies last night. It was quite a project, but we now have a large rubbermaid container full of yummy (not so perfect) looking iced cookies!

This is what I get when I try to take pictures of Caleb playing in his new room. It is a difficult task! I figured I would post them anyways as I am sure that the grandparents love seeing pics of this boy!

Caleb 21 months old

Caleb is 21 months old. He is showing more and more of his personality. He absolutely loves balls. This month he has said lots of new words and phrases, and many of them relate to basketball: "basket", "he shoots", "good job", "kaboom", and "good shot". He loves to throw his balls into his laundry basket over and over again. He wants me to be the announcer for him and to clap when he "scores". Caleb also plays with his footballs. He holds two at one time and runs around the living room with them. He then falls down on the balls and laughs. I am amazed at how he is able to distinguish these differences in football and basketball. A lot of Caleb's playtime is spent pretending. He makes his plastic animals kiss each other and eat and drink. The other night he was pretending to pick berries (out of mid air) and eat them. He loves to wear his Bob the Builder hat and to attempt to get Heidi to wear it also. I can see how a routine is a very good thing for Caleb just like all of the toddler advice books say. Today at lunch, I sat down and began eating. Caleb kept reaching for my hand. When I grabbed his hand, he looked down ready to pray- so precious that he remembered even though I didn't! I ask Caleb about his sister frequently. Lately when asked where she is at he has been pointing to his own belly button or pointing outside. He seems to grasp that there is another little person who exists who we are calling sister, but he has yet to figure out the impact this girl will have on his life! While we anxiously await little girl's arrival, I am cherishing these last couple of months as a mom of one who can give Caleb lots of my attention. I know it is going to be difficult when that is not the case, and I suddenly have a newborn and a toddler to care for! For now I am enjoying my only child, Caleb, full of energy and excitement.

Check back for some pics of Caleb playing in his new room. I plan to take some after naptime!

Kelly's Belly Week 29

Everything is looking good pregnancywise, but I can tell I am getting into the third (less comfortable) trimester. I have had some of the same vision issues that I had last time with Caleb in which I am feeling fine and then things start to get hazier and hazier. I know it is food related, so I have been trying to eat often, which I guess is a good problem to have. I did run by the doctor's office last week after having my vision fogginess twice in one day to have my blood pressure checked. It was normal. I am pretty sure that at this point in my pregnancy with Caleb, my feet were getting to be the "kankle" state. If you don't remember, they were comically swollen and just looked ridiculous, not to mention that it was quite uncomfortable. All that to say, my feet are looking fairly normal for now! I'm very thankful for that! I will go to the doctor for a normal checkup in a week, and then I will start my two week checkups. We are feeling excited and a bit overwhelmed at the speed at which this pregnancy is moving. With the holidays, I am sure time will go even faster. I would love any advice from parents of more than one kid on how to get Caleb ready- seems like we have a ways to go in that regard. I guess he will figure it all out in time!

Kelly's Belly Week 28

Here I am at 28 weeks. I just realized that it is the same shirt as last week. This sweater is one of my favorites from last time around, but it was missing for a good part of this pregnancy. All that to say, I was very happy when my mom found it in a bag that I had sent back to Albuquerque with her, and I have been wearing it a bunch! Sorry for the boringness of this post. I have a toddler in my lap, who is trying to type and fussing. I have been yelling "Jon" to try to get him to come take this boy away, and Caleb has been repeating "Jon" right after I say it... so cute- despite the difficulty he is causing me in typing! In other news, Caleb had the stomach bug on Friday and managed to pass it on to 3 other families as well. I think that we are in the clear now, but we are washing our hands like crazy. I guess that's it for now- 12 weeks to go! (6 by Caleb's early standard, but we are hoping that won't be the case with little girl)
