Tagged for the First Time

My friend, Kate, tagged me all the way from England. Here are the questions and answers:

1) What are some of your preferences that have changed since you were young?
Hmmm... When I was four, I quit ballet class b/c the floor smelled bad. When I was in fifth grade, I quit jazz class b/c I didn't want to shake my behind! But, now we have lots of dance parties! This is a lame answer to that question, but I can't think of much!

2) Rank the seasons in the order you like them most.

Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall (We virtually have no Fall here in Waco, so that is why it is last. If we did have a fall that didn't involve 90 degree temperatures, my order would probably be different. Spring is first b/c recently I have come to get so excited when our trees and bushes start to sprout new leaves. Also we always have birds build nests on our porch. I love watching for the baby chicks to be born.)

3) If you could only live in one city for the rest of your life, which one would it be? And if you could only live in one country (besides the USA) for the rest of your life, and never go anywhere else, where would it be?

This one is hard too. City-I think I would have to pick ABQ b/c of family and b/c of that great New Mexican food. How could I live the rest of my life without those two things?! Country- ummm I don't know- I will have to ask Jon's opinion on that one!

I tag Jennifer T., Brooke, Emily, and EJ.

Zoo time!

Its hard to get any good pictures with Caleb crawling all over the place. Usually I have 1 of 20 that is okay! Here are some of him and his friend Aiden at the zoo.

Love this Picture of my Nearly 1 year old!

A New Tooth

Click on the picture to check out Caleb's new tooth on the top. We really have got to work brushing his teeth into our normal schedule! (Sorry about the snot issues in the picture too- its a constant battle!)

Our Little Fish!

Yesterday, we took Caleb to the Baylor pool. At first, he seemed overwhelmed by all the interesting things around him, but he really enjoyed it. He practiced kicking and loved splashing with his hands. He went under the water several times and did fine with it. We want to teach him to blow bubbles, so Jon and I blew LOTS of bubbles. Caleb just kept on splashing!

Spring has Sprung, wait a second

Considering on Tuesday it was 75 out and I was wearing a t shirt this was a surprise.

It was a little frosty this morning on our street.
Posted by PicasaIt's not Northern NM but it was still a sight.

Heidi loved it.

Real Election

Not sure if it will matter but we went and participated in democracy yesterday. We're not that caught up in the cycling world.

Ok so it's March and the pink had gone on long enough

Levi just won the Tour of California, might as well let him in the tour, everyone else is back in. He has my vote, but you would think that Astana would at least change their name to sever ties with what happened last year. Anyone else think he looks a little like Eric?

Our Mancub

It seems that this is a inherited trait; however Caleb only does it outside so he doesn't scuff up his knees( we think). Guess there is more than one mancub out there. If you don't think babies are strong, crawl around like him for a minute or two. I did and I don't know how they do it, it's quite a workout. Caleb continues to love going outside and throws a temporary fit if the door opens- he makes a break for it- and doesn't make it. It can be cold, wet, he doesn't really care. The other night he went outside and found the stars and kept pointing at them. I was proud that he even noticed.

Park Weather

The weather in Texas is wonderful today, so we decided to take advantage of it by going with our friends, Emily and Gianna, to the park. Gianna is just a little bit older than Caleb, so Emily and I love getting to hang out and talk about them! They are at the age when they can actually play at the park. They swung, went down the slide, and crawledr around on the merry-go-round chasing each other. Caleb seemed to especially like all of the dirt that the park had to provide. He kicked it with his feet, picked some up with his hands, and only had to be told not to eat it one time!

11 Months of Fun

One month to go until our little boy is a year old! He is developing really quickly and showing more and more of his personality everyday. Just a few moments ago, I found him at the dishwasher licking the remains of apricot off of his dinner spoon. This boy loves to eat! Let me repeat that, Caleb loves to eat!!! He is eating most everything that Jon and I eat. He has decided he doesn't like baby food anymore and makes raspberries with it in his mouth, which causes it to fly out all over me, the table, and anything else nearby. Instead, Caleb wants whatever everyone else is eating. He kicks his legs in excitement and anticipation of all the new flavors and foods, and if he doesn't get it soon enough, he protests quite vocally :)! We are working on this!

Caleb loves to be outside. When he hears me telling Heidi that I am going to take her out, he starts squealing and crawling as fast as he can to the door. I leave it open, and he sprint crawls down the driveway with a look of joy and amazement. Along with these happy expressions of his personality, he also has starting showing his own will in other ways. He throws quite a little fit if I don't let him crawl down the driveway or if I take something away from him! Also several nights ago, Caleb brought me a book, and I read it to him and put it back into his book basket. He started crying, crawled to pick up the book, and took it to Jon. Jon read it to him, and he smiled and laughed the whole time. It was adorable! It seems like Caleb is doing something new every moment all day long!

We are so blessed by this baby! I can't believe how quickly the time is flying! It is challenging, but mostly incredibly fun and rewarding.

New Look

I decided that the month of February may be the only time my husband will let me have PINK on our blog. Otherwise it is much, much too girlie for the blog of a strong Capron boy. There sure are a lot of "strong Capron boys", so I am going to take advantage of one month of pink!

New Skills...

Caleb is learning new things everyday. Yesterday, we both learned something new. Caleb can climb/fall out of his high chair even though he is strapped in it. I figured this out when Caleb did a nose dive from his high chair to the floor. I am very thankful that he was in the dining room and landed on the laminate floor rather than in the kitchen, where he would have hit the tile. I had just put him in his high chair and was getting his food ready. He was fussing, and I guess he stood up, pulled his legs and body out of the straps, leaned over, and fell out the side. It must not have been too bad of a fall because although he cried, he was completely normal when he got to start eating dinner. By the way, he loves spaghetti! I tightened the straps on the high chair a lot, and I guess Caleb will hang out on the floor while I get his meals together. That just means more work for me trying to keep him out of trouble on the floor (dog food, the dishwasher, ect.)! No more stalling him with puffs or cheerios while I clean up either!

Here are two pictures of Caleb eating his spaghetti after the fall. As you can see, he felt just fine!

And here is the view that Caleb frequently sees when he is eating and Heidi is disobeying.

Pray for the Sakkas Family

Our nephew, Nickolaos Sakkas, was born several days ago in Greece. He is apparently having some issues absorbing his food and was moved to a different hospital. Mara, Jon's sister, is still at the Greek hospital where she gave birth. Her husband, Arthur, is an hour away with Nick at the other hospital. Pray for Nick to be healthy and able to eat. Pray for Mara, who is alone in the Greek hospital, where she will stay for 5 days- as is normal after giving birth in Greece.

Caleb's New Toy

Not great light- but very cute. Watch until the very end to see what Caleb found between Take 5 and Take 6...

A Sick Baby, a tired mom, and a Treat on my Doorstep!

Well, no new pictures of Caleb as he has been a sick boy the last half of this week. I won't go into all of the yucky details of it since Jon doesn't approve of that on the internet. But, he has had like every different symptom possible. Mostly, he has a stuffy nose and a high fever. Last night, it got up to 104.5, and I just about started to freak out. It was 9:00pm, I was still in my pajamas- had been all day, I hadn't eaten dinner, and I thought we were headed to the ER (without Jon, since he was out of town). Luckily, the doctor said to just bring him in this morning. We went in and got some antibiotics, so hopefully Caleb will be feeling better soon. I am fairly exhausted from having to hold an unhappy baby for 4 days straight and glad that Jon is headed home soon! He is so lucky to have missed vomit clean-up duty!

So what I will post is a picture of what I found on my doorstep when we returned from the doctor. A 4 lb. bag of pistachios from Rhonda and Tim- an early birthday present!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Some yummy, salty, pistachios are just what I need to get my energy back up! They are much appreciated!
We will hopefully be back to our healthy happy selves next week. I am praying that Jon and I don't get sick. More pictures of Caleb then...for the g-parents of course...

10 Months Old!

Caleb is 10 months old today! I can't believe the one year mark is only 2 months from now. Caleb has been accomplishing a lot in the last month! As usual he loves every kind of food I give to him. Lately he has tried out spaghetti, yogurt, zucchini, and tortillas. He has two teeth on the bottom and is eating more and more by himself, which seems like a time saver. However, I spend about twice as long cleaning up after him as I would if I just spoon fed him. Caleb loves to play with his ball. He rolls it back and forth to Jon or to me and is learning how to throw it. He says "mama", "dada", "daw" (dog), "uh-di" (Heidi), and possibly "ba" (ball- not sure on that one yet). Caleb splashes like a crazy man in the bath. He kicks his feet and slaps the water over and over. I can't wait until it is summertime, and we can take him swimming. After a good month and a half of having a sick baby (cold and sinus infection), we have enjoyed this month without sickness. That has helped in the sleep department and just the overall happiness of our baby boy! What will I be writing about Caleb a month and two months from now? Walking, lots more words, and lots more interaction? We can't wait to see what is next!

Seconds

I just took another piece of dog food out of Caleb's mouth. I guess he got a taste for it..ARGGHH! The problem is that Heidi doesn't eat over her bowl. Instead she gets a mouth full of food, brings it into the living room, and drops it on the carpet to eat it. Often there are small pieces left there....

NICE!

Firsts

I just pulled part of a piece of dog food out of Caleb's mouth! Then we had a discussion about the words "yucky" and "no". Hopefully this first won't be repeated!
