Time to Get Up!
Caleb felt the need to go in to get Abby up from her nap today. We could hear her talking in her bed from my room. Caleb left the room in a hurry and went into Abby's room, shut the door, climbed in the crib with Abby, and turned on the light. Abby was quite happy to have a friend in bed with her. And while I was taking pictures of them, she stood up in her crib for the first time!
I guess that watching her brother inspired her to get up too.

Pumpkin Patch
Several of you have commented on the family picture, so I wanted to give credit to my friend, Jennifer Taylor, who took it. She is a great photographer here in Waco.

Abby 8 months old
Abby is 8 months old and that is 2/3 of a year! She is on the move. She crawls with one leg foot down on the ground and with the other leg knee down. This doesn't make for the fastest crawling method, but she still manages to get into her brother's train set. I am sure she will improve her technique quickly! Tonight Abby tried to eat a cockroach. I had set her down in the driveway with some toys in a safe spot while I was sweeping the porch. The next thing I knew, she was in a different spot with a cockroach (dead) in her hand and a good amount of mud in her mouth. About thirty minutes later, I found a large chunk of grass in her mouth. I guess that is what happens to the second child! But, we will at the very least work at avoiding the cockroaches next time! Abby is starting to enjoy books more and more. Her favorite book in a touch and feel kitty book. She just lights up when I pull it out. Caleb's favorite book at this age was Mr. Brown Can Moo Can You, which is more of a funny sound book. I find it so interesting to see the differences in their personalities already. Abby also loves bath time. She and Caleb take baths together, and she watches him and laughs at him the whole time. Abby continues to wake up wanting to nurse in the middle of the night. Twelve days of company in our house only made this issue more common. In fact, we are having a little "sleep training" as I type. I am hoping I can be more stubborn than her this time and that she is just able to "get it" finally! Pray for that!
Lastly, Abby is enjoying her new found ability to feed herself finger foods. She loves to eat toast strips and particularly enjoyed the bread from Johnny Carinos. We all enjoyed that! Moving into the next four months will be exciting. Babies learn so many new things at this age. We love our girl!
